I had the opportunity to work with some of the a.m. athletes last Friday and loved the energy that they brought. They are amazing athletes with a lot of strength and drive.
You might ask yourself: Why should I do yoga?
One thing that I noticed during the a.m. session last Friday was the lack of mobility and the stiffness throughout the shoulders, back, hips, groin and hamstrings. I feel that we can easily fix this over time, and improve the flexibility that will always help in becoming a better athlete. You will also feel better in the morning, your muscles will feel stretched and your minds will be at ease. You will be able to deal with your everyday tasks easily and efficiently.
Lets talk about the breath for a second. You will learn to use the Ugai breath, which will help you stretch deeper in different asanas (postures). This will help immensely to breath more affectively and efficiently during Crossfit, and as an athlete in general.
Here's the BIG picture. Yoga will help you:
- Increase your flexibility, mobility and longevity
- Less prone to injury
- Have a more active lifestyle
- Improves your balance
- Aid in joint lubrication
- Help relieve stress/anxiety/depression
- And is a natural sleep enhancer
Those are just a few things that yoga will bring to your life. There are also many therapeutic and medicinal contributions within yoga to learn over time.
Yoga will not only physically, but mentally and emotionally change your life.
